Devlog #1 — Why I Built FeeLens for Creators

You could say FeeLens started from a very simple, slightly annoying question:

“How much do I actually receive after the platform takes its cut… and after payment processing… and after hidden fees?”

Most commission platforms do list a percentage somewhere —

“we only take 10%”, “flat 20%”, “just a small processing fee”.

But in reality:

there’s a platform commission

plus payment processor fees

sometimes fixed per-transaction fees

sometimes tiered rates or “service charges”

and sometimes creators only see the final number without understanding the path from A → B.

As a creator or client, this makes it hard to:

price fairly

negotiate with confidence

or even compare one platform with another.

Why FeeLens exists

FeeLens is my small answer to that problem.

It’s a tiny, browser-based calculator that focuses on three things:

1. Show the real payout — how much lands in the creator’s pocket.

2. Make fee math transparent — platform cut + payment cut, visible and clear.

3. Make comparison easy — same order amount, different platforms, side by side.

No login, no tracking, no signup — just numbers in a calm Morandi-colored UI.

How it ties into Skreeb

FeeLens is part of a bigger experiment called Skreeb —

a fair, transparent commission ecosystem I’m building slowly in the background.

Before building any “big platform”, I wanted to ship something small but useful:

a tool that creators can actually use today

a way to start conversations around fees and fairness

and a reminder (to myself) that transparency shouldn’t be optional.

FeeLens isn’t trying to be “smart” or “AI-powered”.

It’s intentionally simple: put in the numbers → see the truth.

What’s next

This first version focuses on the basics:

order amount → platform fee → creator payout

some example platforms in the UI

responsive layout so it works on desktop and mobile

In future updates, I’d love to add:

custom fee presets per platform

reverse-calculation (start from target payout)

currency support

and a way to embed FeeLens as a widget on commission pages.

If you’re a creator or client using commission platforms,

I’d love to hear what kind of fee patterns you’re dealing with.

Thanks for reading,

and thanks for giving FeeLens a try 💛
